From Production to Sales and Marketing.

From Production to Sales and Marketing.

The reception to Owl Music has been overwhelmingly positive. As a publisher and author, I am incredibly proud of Owl Music. It is everything I envisioned it to be and more. It strikes a note in the heart that will reverberate beyond my years.

When Melissa, Kjrsten, Sandice and I were in production on Owl Music, there was a lot of joy. We knew we were making a real book, with real art, that would resonate with all who read it. Our hearts were 100% in it and still are.

As a salesperson and businessman, it is an incredibly difficult thing to be an almost heartless, bottom line driven, entrepreneur and also stay With a book that is so close to my heart. When I am able to disconnect from it, I look at it and objectively think it is a great product and one that will go places! Anyone who “hears’ it, buys it. It is a broad message that I have gotten.  I 100% believe in its wide marketability.

The question now is how do I get it “heard”?

have been looking into PR firms. Is that what I need? So far, email connection in the book world is comparable to snail mail

The International Owl Center in Houston, MN is my primary wholesale account. They have sold ~100 copies. I think if it hadn’t been for that connection and Karla’s encouragement that are making me undeterred.

Timing is everything. We released Owl Music on OCT 16 with only social media exposure. I thought the book was good enough that we could sell all 1000 fairly quickly. I think I overestimated the appetite for a $40, $50 with Shipping, book, no matter how good it is.

This brings me to Amazon. In my grandiosity, I thought, “Ah, I can do this without Amazon.” It is the largest book seller in the world and after a long hard look, the best way that I am going to move 5000 books is with Amazon’s help.
